CIAC was incorporated in July 1971 with the principal objective to supply industrial control systems for:
- Nuclear Power Stations.
- In-line real time analysis of physical and chemical parameters of petroleum, petrochemical and chemical products.
- Combustion control of burners using powdered coal.
CIAC has supplied the immense majority of the actuation devices installed in Spanish Nuclear Power Stations and also those in other countries. In-line analyser systems were installed in all Spanish oil refineries. Combustion control of virtually all the Spanish cement kilns that use powdered coal were supplied by CIAC.
In 1988 the British company GEC Marconi appointed CIAC as its representative for the supply of systems to the new minehunter programme for the Spanish Navy. This appointment developed into agreements with other British companies to represent them as well in this programme.
The experience acquired indicated to CIAC the possibilities of working in the Defence sector. Starting in 1996 CIAC won a series of important contracts in collaboration with different suppliers, including the first major defence contract between Spain and the United Kingdom since 1936.
From its creation and given the size of CIAC, a rigorous policy was adopted to find maximum quality products and specific systems to allow the coverage of niche areas in the market. As a result of this policy CIAC currently has a portfolio of represented companies, which includes world leaders in the fields of Industry and Defence.
